Area Information
How to Get There:  If your plane arrives in Puerto Vallarta after 1:00pm, we recommend spending the first night in Old Town, as the water taxi leaves for Los Chonchos beach at 3:00pm.  La Palapa Casa Blanca is located south of Puerto Vallarta and is accessed by water taxi from Boca de Tomatlan, the water taxi hub, which is a 30 minute taxi or bus ride from downtown Puerto Vallarta.  In Old Town, there are several clean and friendly hotels ranging from $60-$125 per night. Past guest favorites are Posada de Roger, Casa Andrea and Hotel Yasmin, all three are in great Old Town locations and close to the beach. On the one hour water taxi ride, you will be hugging the beautiful coastline while making short stops at seaside villages, including Yelapa. Have your camera ready for the many Kodak moments as you travel to Chonchos beach. When you arrive in Boca de Tomatlan, look for the water taxi Nayeli to Chimo, as you board the boat let the driver know that you are going to Chonchos beach. The water taxi leaves from Boca de Tomatlan daily at 9:00am and 3:00pm and costs $150 Pesos (about $15 USD) one way, per person.  The water taxi returns to Boca de Tomatlan twice daily.  For your travel home or to explore other villages, the water taxi pick up time at Los Chonchos beach is 11:00am and 5:00pm daily.
What to Bring:  Because of the boat trip to reach Los Chonchos beach, soft, easily handled luggage such as duffles and backpacks are preferable to suitcases as well as a dry pack for your electronics.  Don't forget your binoculars!  A lightweight sweatshirt and pants or sweater is great in the evenings and sunscreen is needed daily.  We have a collection of books and a few games available at no additional cost.  A pair of flip flops, bathing suit, tennis shoes or Teva type sandals, shorts and t shirts is about all you need.  Welcome to Paradise!
Climate:  Temperatures can range from 68in the winter to 910 in the hottest part of the summer.  The periods of late fall (November thourgh mid December) and spring through early summer (March 21 through the end of June) bring the best weather with clear skies and ideal day and night temperatures.
Money:  The Mexican currency is the peso.  A $ denotes this in Mexico, so you must remember while there that when you see it, it is referring to pesos NOT US Dollars.
